Knee Deep in Handmade Gifts
I’ve been away this past week – supposedly to step away, relax and regroup…but, with the holiday creeping closer each day, there is no time right now for such a thing as relaxing.
So, with great forethought, I packed whatever projects that I could that I would be able to work on during this time away.
I’m not ungrateful – I enjoy spending time away with my husband, but remember, it’s a global pandemic, so the height of our sightseeing may be to stock up at the Whole Foods dispenser aisle and do take out from our favorite German restaurant (if they are open) or a romp through the dunes foraging for leaves and flowers that I can stash in the freezer and use once I’m back home to eco-dye scarves.
If you guessed I’ve been knitting, then you are correct. Ive made time to finish up the knitted projects on my list and I just about made sit as I busily knitted the last object in the car on the ride home.
I definitely turned into a production knitter this year and while the needles were flying, I was quietly envisioning future cast on’s for me and dreaming of the January sweater I would be starting soon.
You may have seen some recent Instagram photos that illustrated my time away – knitting on the beach and foraging in the dunes for new things to use for eco-printing.
I’m home now with the last week ahead of me for finishing everything up and then packing and sending out all that handmade joy to others.
I wish you well on your own attempts at making a handmade holiday – not like the ones on You Tube or Pinterest, but the kind you create.
XOXO, Lorrie
